Repair and care

Store your jewelry in a dark, airtight environment, such as your jewelry box. Avoid warm and humid places like the bathroom, as well as chemical products. Store your jewelry separately to avoid scratches.

Silver jewelry oxidizes – it turns black – when exposed to air and light. Maintain your jewelry with a polishing cloth or silver cleaning bath. Gold jewelry or jewelry with a layer of gold stays cleaner for longer. If your jewelry looks dull, restore its shine with a gold polishing bath or cloth. Gold-plated jewelry retains its color longer when not exposed to water or sweat.

Each FIEN LEROY jewelry piece is crafted with great attention and care, ensuring durability and strength. However, there are some things to consider when caring for your jewelry.

Silver and gold-plated silver jewelry are softer than 18k gold jewelry. This means silver rings may deform more quickly, or a silver necklace/bracelet may be less durable than one made of 18k gold.

It is best not to wear silver rings when there is constant pressure on your hand, such as during tennis, if you’re a physiotherapist/massage therapist at work, while climbing, etc. 18k gold rings are more durable but should also be removed when doing heavy work, such as renovations or intensive gardening.

A silver necklace should also not be worn while sleeping or exercising for the same reasons. Extra care should be taken if your necklace or bracelet is prone to pulling, for example, by children or when putting on/removing scarves and sweaters in the winter.

When wearing jewelry with gemstones, dust or dirt may accumulate between the stones and the silver or gold over time. You are always welcome to bring your Fien Leroy jewelry to the store for an ultrasonic cleaning of your gemstone jewelry. This service is free of charge, and you can take your jewelry home right away. However, not every gemstone can be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath; please ask Fien for advice.

You can also give your jewelry a refresh at home with some dish soap and water. A soft-bristled toothbrush will allow you to clean beneath the gemstone.

If your Fien Leroy jewelry is broken, don’t hesitate to contact us by email or visit the store. Together, we can find a suitable and durable solution.

We do not repair jewelry not made in our workshop. On the one hand, we believe it’s important to focus all our attention on fulfilling our customer orders within the appropriate timeframe. On the other hand, repairing jewelry made by another designer/jeweler is not always straightforward. If you don’t know the anatomy and melting temperatures of a piece, sometimes you can cause more damage than good while attempting a repair.

We recommend contacting the designer/shop where you purchased the jewelry.

If you are already a customer with us, and the piece is made of 18k gold, and you can no longer reach the original designer, send us an email with an explanation or visit the store, and we will see what we can do for you.

You can always come to us for a re-plating of your FIEN LEROY jewel. In most cases, we can also provide a new gold layer for jewelry from other designers/makers. Depending on the size of the piece, this will cost between 60 and 100 euros.
