Care
Store your jewelry in a dark, airtight place, such as your jewelry box. Avoid warm and humid areas like the bathroom, as well as exposure to chemicals. Keep your jewelry stored separately to prevent scratches.
A silver jewel oxidizes – turns black – when exposed to air and light. Maintain your jewelry with a polishing cloth or a silver cleaning bath.
Gold jewelry or gold-plated pieces stay clean longer. Does your jewel look dull? Restore its shine with a gold cleaning bath or a polishing cloth. Gold-plated jewelry retains its color longer when kept away from water and sweat.
A one-year warranty is provided on collection jewelry and custom-made pieces. This warranty covers manufacturing defects but does not apply to wear and tear from regular use or the fading of gold plating.
Over time, dust or dirt may accumulate between the gemstones and the silver or gold of your jewelry. You are always welcome to bring your Fien Leroy jewel to the store for a complimentary ultrasonic cleaning. You can take your piece home immediately after. However, not all gemstones are suitable for ultrasonic cleaning, be sure to consult Fien for advice.
At home, you can refresh your jewelry using a little dish soap and water. A soft-bristled toothbrush allows you to gently clean under the gemstone.
Additionally, you can maintain your jewelry with silver or gold polish. For delicate gemstones, a special cleaning solution is recommended.
You can purchase silver polish, gold polish, and cleaning solutions for jewelry with delicate gemstones or pearls in our store. This cleaning product lasts a long time and costs €15.
Each Fien Leroy piece is crafted with great attention and care, focusing on strength and durability. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind when caring for your jewelry.
Silver and gold-plated silver jewelry are softer than 18k gold pieces. This means silver rings may bend more easily, and a silver necklace or bracelet is less sturdy than one in 18k gold.
It’s best not to wear silver rings when there’s frequent pressure on your hand, for example, during tennis, as a physiotherapist/massage therapist during work hours, or while climbing, etc. 18k gold rings are more durable, but it’s still best to avoid wearing them during heavy tasks like renovation work, intense gardening, etc.
A silver necklace is also recommended to be removed while sleeping or exercising for the same reasons. Extra caution is advised when there is a lot of pulling on your necklace or bracelet, such as with children or when putting on and taking off scarves and sweaters in the winter.
Repair
If you’re unsure about the size of your jewelry, you’re always welcome to visit the store so we can check together whether a size adjustment is necessary.
In most cases, it’s possible to adjust the size of a ring. However, for alliance rings that are set with small gemstones all around the band, resizing is not possible.
For rings that need only a slight size increase, this can often be done as part of our service. If your ring needs to be significantly resized, either enlarged or reduced, a fee of 80 euros will apply.
We’re sorry to hear that your jewelry is damaged! Don’t hesitate to contact us via email or visit the store, so we can work together to find an appropriate and lasting solution.
We do not repair jewelry that was not made in our workshop. On one hand, we believe it’s important to focus all our attention on customer orders to ensure timely delivery. On the other hand, repairing jewelry made by another designer/goldsmith is not always straightforward. Without knowing the anatomy and melting temperatures of a piece, sometimes attempting a repair can cause more harm than good.
We recommend reaching out to the designer/store where you purchased the jewelry.
If you’re already a customer of ours, the piece is made of 18k gold, and you’re unable to contact the original designer, please email us with an explanation or visit the store. We will assess whether we can assist you.
Yes, you can always come to us for re-plating your Fien Leroy jewelry. In most cases, we can also provide a new layer of gold for jewelry from other designers/makers. Depending on the size of the piece, the cost ranges from 60 to 100 euros.
Generally, the gold plating on a ring or bracelet wears off faster than on a necklace or earrings. The wear also depends on how often the jewelry is worn. To take good care of your gold-plated jewelry, it’s best to remove it when it comes into contact with water or sweat. If you wear your jewelry more frequently, you’ll need a re-gilding sooner.
The lifespan of the gold layer also varies from person to person. People with higher skin acidity will need to re-plate their jewelry more quickly than those with lower skin acidity.
On average, you can expect your jewelry to need a new layer of gold anywhere from 6 months (short) to 2 years (long).
Size
We can measure your ring size in the store.
If you place an order online and are unsure of your ring size, the best option is to visit a local jeweler to have it measured. If that’s not possible, you can consider purchasing a ‘ring sizer’ online or use a ‘ring size app’ to compare the size of an existing ring with the sizes shown in the app.
Want to surprise someone with a ring but have no idea of their size? If you can secretly bring a ring they already wear to the store, we can measure the size of that ring and make an accurate estimation. Try not to choose an open ring or a ring that isn’t perfectly round, as this won’t give an accurate size.
If you want to surprise someone and have no idea about their ring size at all, no worries! A collection jewel can always be exchanged, provided it is unworn and returned to the store. For an engagement ring, you can borrow a prototype ring from the store (you’ll pay the full price for the ring as a guarantee it will be returned to the store) to pop the question. Afterward, you can return with your fiancé to the store, and we will measure the correct size together. From there, we can create the ring in the perfect size for you.
You can have your wrist size measured in-store.
If you place an order and are unsure of your wrist size, for bracelets with a fine chain, you can measure your wrist size using a piece of string. Wrap it around your wrist, making sure it’s snug but not tight. Measure the length of the string and add 0.5 cm to get the correct size.
For solid bracelets without a chain, you can estimate your size based on your build.
Want to surprise someone with a bracelet but have no idea of the size? No problem! A piece of jewelry from the collection can always be exchanged, provided it is unworn and returned to the store.

To purchase a piece of jewelry
You can order a piece of jewelry from the collection both in-store and on the webshop. When ordering online, you can choose between home delivery or pick-up in-store.
Would you like to visit the store to try on some jewelry? You are welcome with or without an appointment during our opening hours. We’re happy to assist you!
Depending on your approach, there are several paths to creating the perfect dream ring.
Option 1 – You order a ring from the collection, with or without a small adjustment to the design. You should expect a delivery time of 8 weeks and have an idea of the correct ring size. The size can always be adjusted afterward. A ring from the collection can be ordered both online and in-store.
Option 2 – You borrow a prototype ring from the store, which you can use to present your question. If the ring you have in mind is in stock, you can take it home immediately. This is a great option if you’re not sure about the chosen design, if you have no idea about the correct ring size, and/or if you are on a tight schedule. After your proposal, you and your fiancé(e) can come to the store, where we’ll receive the prototype ring (almost) unworn, measure the correct size, and discuss the design again. The delivery time for the final ring is 4 to 8 weeks.
Option 3 – You have a unique custom ring made after an extensive brainstorming session in the store. Here, too, you should expect a delivery time of 8 weeks and have an idea of the correct ring size. You don’t need to have a fixed idea for a unique design in advance. Step by step, we’ll guide you through the design process, so you’ll be assisted with a fitting design and the necessary knowledge.
Feel free to ask us any questions about these three options, and you’re welcome to schedule an appointment in the store to come up with a beautiful design!
Wedding rings are always custom-made. Step by step, we guide you through the design process: you choose your favorite gold color, the shape and width of your ring, as well as a finish and, if desired, the use of gemstones.
If you don’t have an idea of which direction you’d like to go beforehand, no worries! By trying on sample rings in the store, you’ll quickly get a feel for what does or doesn’t suit your style. If you already have a design idea, it’s not a direct copy of another designer’s work and fits within our style framework, we can have a great brainstorming session!
Feel free to make an appointment to explore the possibilities.
For wedding rings, it’s best to allow about 6 months for delivery. This helps us to spread out orders and ensures that we can make your rings in time. Within this timeframe, we schedule a fitting session, where you can come in to try the rings before engraving or gemstones are added.
For tighter deadlines, we can always see what can be done. Everything within 2 to 6 months is achievable. For deadlines of less than 2 months, we’ll discuss what we can realistically deliver!
In all serenity you are welcome to discuss the process of creating a memorial jewel, with the option for a personal engraving, incorporating ashes, and/or a meaningful birthstone.
For a memorial piece, you can either choose a piece from the collection or opt for a custom creation. Creating such a symbolic and emotional piece should feel right. Feel free to come by for a consultation, where we can discuss a beautiful design and see if we are the right fit for you.
Please note, we do not incorporate teeth, hair, breast milk, or umbilical cords into our jewelry.
A custom design is always discussed by appointment. You can easily schedule this through the online calendar.
You are welcome to, but it’s not necessary to, have a specific idea beforehand to brainstorm about a unique piece. However, it is helpful to know what type of jewelry you’d like to create: a ring, earrings, bracelet, or necklace.
Do you have old gold or a family heirloom gathering dust at home? Feel free to bring it along to the appointment to have it tested and possibly transformed into a refined new design. In this case, make an appointment for gold reworking.
You can expect a lead time of 8 weeks for the creation of a unique piece.
A collection piece of jewelry can always be exchanged, provided it is unworn and returned to the store.
Custom-made jewelry cannot be exchanged.
If you have ordered wedding rings but unfortunately the wedding is no longer happening, you can recover the deposit for the rings in the form of a gift voucher. We cannot provide a cash refund.
For collection jewelry and custom pieces, you can expect a delivery time of 8 weeks. If the jewelry is ready earlier, we will notify you right away!
For wedding rings, it’s best to plan for a period of 6 months from the decision to the wedding day. This allows us to spread out the orders and manufacture the rings on time. Within this time frame, we will arrange a fitting appointment, so you can try the rings on before engravings or gemstones are added.
For tighter deadlines, we can always see what we can do. Anything within 2 to 6 months is achievable. For deadlines of less than 2 months, we will discuss together what can be done!
It is possible to add an engraving to many pieces of jewelry, although this is not possible for every piece. On the webshop, you will find an additional option for engraving if it is possible for that specific item.
You can choose to have an engraving in a predefined font or have it engraved in your own handwriting or with your own logo.
The price difference between (gold-plated) silver and gold is quite significant. Depending on your budget and preferences, you can choose between both materials.
Silver is a softer metal and requires a bit more care and attention than a gold piece. (Gold-plated) silver rings tend to bend more easily, and silver necklaces/bracelets are therefore not recommended to be worn while sleeping or during sports.
18k gold is much stronger and more durable than silver. A gold piece of jewelry is made to last a lifetime and can even be passed down to the next generation. Because of its durability, some jewelry pieces in the collection, such as fine rings with gemstones and certain bracelets, are only made in 18k gold.
If your budget allows for a piece in 18k gold, we always recommend choosing this option. The investment is higher, but you’ll enjoy it for a lifetime! Additionally, gold retains its value, while silver does not.
That said, it’s perfectly fine to buy a piece in silver. The price of silver jewelry is much more accessible and makes purchasing a beautiful piece of jewelry much more attainable.
If you’re uncertain about long/larger earrings in silver or gold, we often recommend going with (gold-plated) silver. Gold is heavier than silver, which can make earrings feel heavier. Also, the gold plating on earrings doesn’t wear off as quickly.
Feel free to come by the store for more advice on choosing the right precious metal!

The delivery time for a collection piece or a custom-made jewelry is a maximum of 8 weeks. Sometimes, a collection piece is in stock and can be picked up or shipped immediately. Don’t hesitate to ask for more information about a specific collection piece if your timeline is tight.
For custom-made jewelry, you can always inquire about timing options. Depending on the type of jewelry and the workload in the workshop, it is sometimes possible to shorten the delivery time to a pickup between 4 and 8 weeks.
Reworking gold/gemstones
Do you have old gold or a family heirloom collecting dust? Make an online appointment for gold remodelling and bring your jewelry so we can examine the authenticity and gold content together.
This can only be done if you are interested in creating a piece of jewelry in our workshop. We do not test jewelry independently of a commission for a new project.
It is possible to have the diamonds in your jewelry tested for authenticity. With colored gemstones, it can sometimes be more difficult to distinguish between natural and synthetic stones, but we can always take a closer look together.
It is no problem to provide your diamond(s) with an authenticity certificate when you have a piece of jewelry made with it in our workshop. The stone will be examined in the lab for carat, color, cut, and inclusions. The price for this certificate depends on the size of the diamond.
When you have gold jewelry at home, there are several options for having a piece made in our workshop.
Not every gold piece is suitable for remelting. To use your gold, we need pieces that are made of 18-karat yellow (or rose) gold. White gold cannot be remelted, as its composition often causes the gold to crack after melting. Rings or pendants are ideal for reuse. Fine chains or link bracelets are often soldered, making them unsuitable for melting into new jewelry.
Option 1 – If the gold jewelry you have is not suitable for remelting, you can use the value of your gold as payment for a new piece made with “new” gold.
Option 2 – If the gold jewelry you have is suitable for remelting, you will pay a melting and processing fee to prepare your gold for use, as well as the labor cost for making the jewelry, and potentially the cost of any added gemstones or engraving.
If the gemstones are not damaged and are hard enough, we can incorporate them into a new design.
Feel free to make an appointment for a gold redesign or a custom piece to explore the possibilities!
It is not possible to provide your own gold when we create a piece of jewelry for you, unless it is preloved gold that can be reused for melting.
No, we don’t buy gold.
Opening hours and appointments
The store is always open on Wednesday from 1 PM to 8 PM, and on Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate appointments outside of opening hours. The store and workshop are running at full capacity. Outside of our opening hours, we are working hard to complete all your orders with care and on time, which makes it impossible to schedule appointments when the store is closed.
Thank you for your understanding!
It’s no problem to cancel your appointment. Normally, you can do so through the confirmation email, but feel free to send a message or email as well. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to reschedule your appointment, and we’ll arrange it for you.
